Welcome to planDisney, Katie! I'm so glad to be able to answer your question today. You're planning like a pro! Combining
Lightning Lane access with
Rider Switch is totally doable, and it's a great way to make sure everyone in your party gets to experience the magic, even with your
littlest Mouseketeer along for the ride. Let's walk through how it works together!
If you're planning to use Lightning Lane and you have an infant who can't ride certain attractions, Rider Switch lets the grown-ups take turns riding while someone stays back with the baby.
Here's the key part: if the first group intends to go through the Lightning Lane using Multi Pass,
everyone who will eventually ride must have a valid Lightning Lane return time. That means both the first riding group and the second riding group need to have booked that Lightning Lane in advance. When you approach the entrance, just let the Cast Member know that you're using Rider Switch. They'll scan your
MagicBands or tickets and set it up right there!
If only the first group has a Lightning Lane reservation and the second group does not, you won't be able to use Rider Switch and Lightning Lane together. If you're combining Lightning Lane and Rider Switch, the Cast Member at the podium will check to make sure everyone has a valid return time when they set up your Rider Switch groups. Remember: the first group can always go through the standby line instead, and the second group can still use their Rider Switch entitlement to ride through the Lightning Lane after the first group returns.
It's a super flexible system and makes traveling with infants and toddlers so much smoother. Just remember to coordinate your Lightning Lane selections so everyone who wants to ride is covered!
I hope this answers your question, Katie, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
