Hi! Is the lightening lane multi pass or the premier pass better to get for a trip with a 1 1/2 year old?!

Hi there, Shelby, and welcome to planDisney! I'm delighted you brought your question to us about Lightning Lane Passes. Allow me to help you sort through your options so you can choose the one that's right for your group.

As you're probably aware, there are three different types of Lightning Lane Passes, the Premier Pass, the Multi Pass and the Single Pass. The Premier Pass is the creme de la creme of Lightning Lane Passes, and allows you and your party to enter the Lightning Lane line once per Lightning Lane attraction for the day and park purchased. This pass will give you the most flexibility since you don't need a return time or reservation for each attraction. You simply go when it's convenient for you, scan in and enjoy the attraction. This is also the only pass that guarantees you'll be able to ride every operating Lightning Lane attraction in that park. It's also the priciest, but if it's within your budget, it's the best option for a 1 1/2 year old, in my opinion, because of the flexibility. That being said, there will be rides your wee one won't be able to experience, and in that case, Rider Switch is available.

Multi Pass allows you to prebook three attractions in the park for which it's purchased. Since you know your child's schedule better than anyone, you'll be able to select the attractions and times that will work best for you, based on availability. On the day you visit the park, you can select another attraction once you've scanned into the first and so forth and so on. The tricky part here is that beyond the first set of three you choose, attractions and times tend to get very limited, especially during busy times. The cost is much more affordable, but you might not get to use as many Lightning Lanes as you will with the Premier Pass, and you won't have as much flexibility.

Single Pass is available for select attractions in each park, like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom, and with this option, you'll be purchasing a specific window of time to ride one attraction. This is a popular choice to go along with Multi Pass as Single Pass attractions aren't included with Multi Pass. The nice thing is, it's possible to mix and match all three if you choose. By using them all together, you could be able to experience certain attractions more than once using Lightning Lane. In any case, you won't need to purchase a Lightning Lane Pass for your 1 1/2 year old since kids under 3 are Guests of Mickey Mouse and don't need admission.

Shelby, I hope this helps you choose the best option for your group. If you have any other questions, please visit us again here at planDisney.

    Have a magical trip!
