If I have a lightening lane booked at say 1pm and I am in the other side of the park and won't get to the ride by 1pm, how long do I have before I lose that 1pm ride reservation?

Hey Howdy Hey Steven and welcome to planDisney!

Genie+ is a great way to maximize your time while experiencing the Magic the parks have to offer. Being able to book Lightning Lane Entrances and skip the longer stand-by lines will help you maximize your time in the parks and less time waiting in line. Thank you for stopping by with your question on grace periods for your Lightning Lane. I will be happy to give you a little more information.

While the official policy on grace periods is somewhat flexible, you should plan on 5 minutes in either direction. You can arrive either 5 minutes early or show up 5 minutes late for your arrival time to still be valid. That being said, on a recent trip, my family and I did arrive at an attraction 10 minutes early, I asked a Cast Member if we were too early and they did let us in. That typically is on a Cast Member basis and not always the case.

If you do feel that the experience you are having, no matter whether you are dining or at another attraction, will go a bit longer than expected, you can always modify your arrival time. You can go to the Genie Tip Board in your My Disney Experience app and under your Lightning Lane, you can select "Modify Plan". This will allow you to select another time you can enter the Lightning Lane for your experience.

I hope this did help to give you an idea of how to plan your upcoming trip. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach back out and let us know, we are always happy to help!

    Have a Magical day,
