Let's say I book a Genie+ ride for 2:30pm. If I notice at 12:30 that the standby lane is pretty short and go on it then, does that free up my 2:30pm reservation? Or must I go in and cancel the 2:30? Then now free to book another Genie+ right?

Hiya Rene - welcome back to planDisney!

It's been a while since you've stopped by, and we're so happy to see you back with another question for our team of panelists!

The Disney Genie+ service is a great way to experience many of your favorite attractions with reduced wait times by making Lightning Lane selections throughout your park day. Genie+ Lightning Lane selections can be made starting at 7 a.m. each morning, and once you use one, you can make a new selection for another attraction or experience!

If you find that you'd rather hop in the standby queue instead, you can simply cancel your future Lightning Lane selection for that attraction or experience, which then frees you up to make a new selection for a different attraction or experience! To do so, simply visit the My Day tab in your My Disney Experience Mobile App and tap the Genie+ Lightning Lane reservation that you'd like to cancel. You'll see some prompts to follow and will be given the option to cancel the reservation for everyone in your party, or just for some Guests. Make sure you want to cancel because once you do, those spots will be offered to other Guests and there may be no additional reservations available for the remainder of the day! It is important to note that you do need to go in and cancel the reservation - there is not an automated way for the system to know that you've already experienced the attraction or experience.

Just for clarification, if you make a paid Individual Lightning Lane reservation, these are not typically cancelable or refundable except in circumstances where an attraction is temporarily unavailable. You'll want to speak with a Cast Member at the attraction or experience or visit Guest Relations or a Guest Experience Team kiosk for assistance in these situations.

I hope this helps your planning mission! You've picked a great time to visit - I can't wait for you to experience everything that the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary Celebration has to offer! Please let us know if any other questions pop up as you prepare for your magical vacation.
