Greetings Darlene, from one fellow Canuck to another!
Travel to
Walt Disney World Resort during the last week of August is a wonderful way to take full advantage of the last days of summer before returning to fall routines, while also benefiting from reduced crowds as many schools in the south (including Florida) are already back in session for the new school year. In fact, my family has a trip coming up at the end of August just before heading back to school precisely because we enjoy travelling at this time of yEAR.
For Canadians, adjusting to Florida's heat and humidity during the summertime months can be a challenge. In general I find Florida weather tends to stay hot and humid well into September. For those of us used to more moderate temperatures, it is vital to take breaks and rests throughout the day during our park touring. Enjoying a favourite attraction indoors with air conditioning is a great way to recharge and refresh. Another key to an enjoyable trip is to ensure all members in your travel party stay properly hydrated, drinking plenty of liquids throughout the day. Finally, be sure to use adequate sunscreen to protect your skin.
Taking an afternoon break back at our
Walt Disney World Resort hotel to relax, rest, and refresh by taking a dip in the pool is a practice my family follows rather religiously, especially during the summer months. Then, by early evening, we are ready to venture back to the parks well rested and ready to enjoy ourselves for the evening. I call this "smart" touring, as it ensures a positive and optimal experience for everyone in the family.
Darlene, I hope this information is helpful. Should you have any other questions, please let us know. We are here to help and want you to have the best possible upcoming Disney vacation.
Magically Yours,
Trish
