is it less busy 8/25-8/30 because schools are back in session, or did we pick an "hour-long-lines-still-as-busy" time of year to come? Star Wars opens 8/29 & that's labor day weekend. We thought our week would be a lull?

    Hi Nancy!

Years ago there used to be a very distinguishable time of year that was considered the slow season at Walt Disney World, but it appears those days are gone and it's pretty busy all year round, especially with special deals and offers that happen during non-peak times of the year.  We visit during the last week of August every year for our children's birthdays and notice a slight dip in crowds since most schools are back in session.  We visited several times this summer and actually noticed it hasn't been as busy as the previous summer or two, so I'm hoping this could be the case for your upcoming trip.

I can't say for sure how the crowd is going to be at the end of this month for this year, I would only be speculating, but you mentioned two very important factors being the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge in Disney's Hollywood Studios and the fact that it's a holiday weekend.  With careful planning, you'll be able to easily navigate the parks and have a great time no matter the crowd size.

Have you made your FastPass+ plans?  Having three pre-selected attractions in place is a big time saver while on vacation at Walt Disney World.  Once you have experienced your first three FastPass+ attractions, you can make additional selections, one at a time, at the same park or at another park if you plan on park hopping.

Are you planning on visiting Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge on this visit? My family visited this afternoon for a special preview for Walt Disney World Passholders and it's quite impressive!  Since this expansion isn't 100% complete, some guests might be waiting to visit until all of the attractions and experiences are open, which could mean it won't be as busy as expected.  There's no way to tell that in advance, unfortunately.

I wish I could give you a more definitive answer, but I know you'll have a fabulous time no matter what.

Please stop back by and visit if you have any additional vacation planning questions.

    Have a magical day!
