Hi Evelyn!
Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is THIS week! You must be getting so excited. I'm really glad that you checked the weather to better prepare for your visit. Gene Kelly famously sung and danced in the rain, and you can too because the show will still go on. While rain strengths can vary, Orlando storms usually last anywhere from just a few minutes, to a few hours, so each day won't be a total wash. While you should definitely plan to bring a rain jacket or an umbrella (and extra socks!), you won't need to bring back-up board games to pass the time as the Disney fun doesn't stop. Pro Tips: Don't forget a stroller cover, and if you do get caught in the rain, almost every shop or merchandise kiosk sells Disney's famous ponchos for just a few bucks each.
I've had my fair share of rainy Disney days. If it's only sprinkling or just a light rain, everything should operate as normal. I've soggily ridden Dumbo the Flying Elephant, watched the Festival of Fantasy Parade in the mist, and some of my favorite Disney PhotoPass Photos were taken of my poncho-clad crew during a drizzle.
Some rides and attractions that part-way or wholly take place outdoors may temporary shutter if the rain gets too heavy, or if there is lightning present. But don't fret as it pours; if you had a
FastPass+ reservation for a ride that does close, it will turn into a super cool 'Any Experience' pass that you can use on that same attraction once it reopens, or you can redeem it at almost any other attraction in that same park. All completely indoor attractions, shows, dining, and meet & greets will continue as normal.
Bonus opinion: The best Kilimanjaro Safari I've ever been on hands-down was during a downpour. The animals LOVE the rain and were so lively! And bonus, the covering of the vehicle is huge so we stayed dry!
We'll See You Real Soon, Evelyn!
