Hey there Sarah and welcome to planDisney!
You've only got 2 weeks until your first trip to
the Most Magical Place on Earth! To quote my fellow Louisiana girl Princess Tiana, "You're almost there!" If you're anything like me, at this point, you're trying to figure out how many full-size skincare products you can fit in your suitcase and still keep that bag underweight at the airport.
Disney Resorts Collection hotels do offer shampoo, conditioner, and soap to lighten the load. But Sarah, pack your lotion of choice because dry skin is not the type of
Enchanting Extra we're adding to our vacation. I always fill up at least 2 travel bottles for lotion alone because with all the handwashing and sanitizing it can go pretty quickly.
Pro tip: Don't forget your sunscreen! Florida weather can definitely be notoriously unpredictable(I'm looking at you current cold snap). But when I was there last year in February, the sun was just as formidable as it would be in May so it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
Now for two very important instructions for your arrival at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort-Riverside. These are absolutely non-negotiable.
1. Take a leisurely stroll along the river to
Disney's Port Orleans Resort-French Quarter and pop into
Scat Cat's Club for some Baton Rouge Beignets! And while you're at it grab a Southern Hurricane off the cocktail menu. It is Mardi Gras season after all.
2. Get some "First Visit" buttons! I always get all my Celebration Buttons at the Front Desk of my Disney Resorts Collection hotel but you can also get them at
Guest Relations locations at all the Disney Parks. Cast Members can spot those buttons a mile away and they love to make magic for first-timers of all ages.
Sarah, I'm beyond thrilled that you're so close to your first trip. Have a magical Mardi Gras time!
Laissez les bon temps rouler!
