Hello, Sarah!
Welcome aboard, it's lovely to meet you! I always think a January cruise is a brilliant idea, it's so nice to get away for a vacation after the rush of the holidays.
It sounds like you'll be traveling to the William P. Hobby Airport before heading to the
Port of Galveston. In ideal conditions, the drive from that airport to the cruise port is under an hour, which should be okay if the flight you're considering doesn't experience any delays. You might consider booking your travel through the
Disney Cruise Line Air Program, which includes benefits like flight monitoring and assistance if airline delays negatively impact your ability to get to your cruise.
My personal preference is to fly in the day before my cruise is scheduled to depart.
A pre-cruise hotel stay means I have plenty of time to get there, even if the travel conditions aren't on my side. No one wants to start a cruise all stressed out from a rough travel day! I also try to avoid scheduling my return flight too early in the day when my cruise returns to port. Rushing back to real life to make a flight is not a magical way to end a cruise.
I see that your cruise is on the
Disney Magic, which is a favorite of mine because that's the only ship where you'll get to dine at
Rapunzel's Royal Table and enjoy
Tangled: The Musical at sea! I love Rapunzel's optimism and creativity, and seeing the floating lanterns is truly spectacular. I'm sure it will be the best cruise ever!
Sending you pixie dust for smooth travels and a fantastic cruise, Sarah!
Keep moving forward!
