We are leaving in Feb. 2013 for our very first Disney Cruise. As I am preparing my children's Christmas list, I thought that maybe my children could ask for Disney Gift cards. I would like to know what they will be able to use those gift cards for?

    Hi Suzanne,

I do this all the time!  It's really fabulous for the kids to get their own Disney Gift Cards.  They'll be able to track their spending because they'll know how much is on each card.

Here's how it will work.  When you arrive and check in for your sailing, you will be asked to put a credit card on file.  Everything that you charge to your room (no cash is used anywhere onboard), goes straight to your stateroom account.  At the end of the trip the balance is charged to your credit card.   You can visit Guest Services as many times as you want, or even on the evening before your departure and settle your bill.  This is the time to hand over those gift cards.  Guest Services will take the gift cards and deduct the amount from your bill.  It's great because you won't have to deal with paying a large bill after you get home (it's depressing enough when your trip is over, let alone seeing the bill later on)!

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for visiting the Moms Panel.  Bon voyage Suzanne!
