We are leaving an a DC in June. Originally we booked a category 6 now we got upgraded to a family suite. Our suite is in the front part of the ship wondering from a motion sickness and noise standpoint if I should change to the middle of the ship?

    Hi Nardine,

Congratulations on the upgrade!  You didn't mention the size of your party, but the basic difference between the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (category 6) and theDeluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah (category 4) is about the size of a twin bed.  The staterooms are identical in layout, however the category 4 has an extra murphy bed that folds down in front of the verandah door.  The category 6 do not have the murphy bed, thus a little less square footage in the stateroom.

So if you have a party of four, I would probably hang on to the upgrade - the extra space will be nice.  If your party is less, and you are partial to your original room location it you could inquire about rejecting the upgrade offer.  Keep in mind that sometimes upgrades are given because a room needs maintenance, so getting your prior room back may not be an option.

As far as noise is concerned, in my experience I have found that the front of the ship tends to be quieter than the middle - however motion is typically felt more in those forward staterooms.

    Hope this helps!
