    We are leaving in 3 days for our WDW vacation. Last night we saw at Walmart the Disney gift cards. We thought about purchasing those for our kids to use for their souvenir purchases. Can those be linked to their Magic bands??

    Disney Gift Cards are a great gift to give to the kiddos and they will really enjoy the freedom of being able to pick out and pay for their own souvenirs.  Not to mention the budgeting lessons that can be learned all while having a magical vacation at The Walt Disney World Resort.

    Disney Gift Cards are accepted as payment at most every location around the resort, but unfortunately, can not be linked to Magic Bands at this time.  Currently, only major credit cards can be linked and used as the deposit to cover charges made to the Magic Bands, which are essentially "room charges."

    It may be fun to purchase each child a lanyard with a card holder attachment pouch.  The lanyards can be used to display trading pins acquired during your stay and the pouch is perfect for holding onto their Disney Gift Cards.  This way, they can keep the cards handy to pay for the souvenirs they pick out around the parks and/or resorts while still maintaining  that fun level of responsibility and independence that comes with handling their own payments!

    Another idea would be to issue them the Gift Card surprise in a certain amount and then let them know that once you arrive, you will be applying those balances to their charges.  They can then use their Magic Bands up to the amount you set at the front desk, and then you can use the Disney Gift Cards at check-out, to cover those charges incurred on their Magic Bands!
