We leave in 4 days for our trip to WDW. We didn't purchase travel insurance and we may need to cancel our trip due to a family member being very ill. Will we be able to cancel our trip and receive a full refund?

    Hi there, Terry!

I'm sorry to hear about your family member.

If you booked your trip through Walt Disney World (and not through any other travel agency or booker), call an agent at 407-939-6244. This is the only method available for cancelling reservations booked through Disney World, including reservations made online and over the phone.

You probably booked either a full package, in which case you worked with the Walt Disney Travel Company, or a room-only reservation, the purview of the Central Reservations Office. While both of these agencies operate for Walt Disney World, their cancellation policies are very different.

In either case, because you are in the one-week window, you will likely be subject to a penalty.

Reservations cancelled within one week of your arrival date can be subject to a one night room forfeiture if your reservation was room-only.

If you booked a full vacation package, a cancellation at five (5) days or less will incur a $200.00 fee.

Make sure to write down the cancellation confirmation number given to you by your Walt Disney World travel agent over the phone.

This number is important to have in case a mistake is made on the part of Disney and you are charged for your cancelled vacation.

If you worked with any third-party travel agent, the policies will be a that agent or agency's discretion, and you will need to contact that agent or agency.

Rest assured that Walt Disney World will make every effort to handle the manner fairly and equitable.

I hope everything works out for the best,
    -Deborah B.
