If we leave a credit card number at the check in and use our room keys for purchases while we are at Disney, can we actually pay off that amount before we leave or will it be charged to the card? Can the card be a debit card?

Hi Brooke.   The answer is yes to both your questions.   When you check in you can leave either a credit or debit card to allow for charging privileges to your room.    After that,  you can simply use your room key for purchases during your stay.

At the end of your trip, you can simply have these charges billed to the card on file or pay off any outstanding amounts with alternative forms of payments such as cash or travelers checks.  In fact, during our last stay, we used Disney Gift cards to pay for our expenses.   Hope this helps!
