Can I leave my car at the Poly while going on a 7 day DCL cruise? I'll need to rent an ECV for the duration and think MEARS is the best solution to transport ECV, family and luggage. Polynesian before/All Star Movies after sailing. Cost?

    Ahoy Elizabeth!

Welcome onboard planDisney! As Moana would say, ““See that line where the sky meets the sea? It calls me.” Sounds like you heard that call too, and made the decision to book a Disney cruise. I love your idea to combine a Walt Disney World vacation with your Disney Cruise Line adventure at sea.

"Hei Hei!" Have you seen the newly reimagined rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort? They draw inspiration from the Pacific Ocean and the Disney fan-favorite film, Moana. Aha-now you get all my movie references! I like where your mind is going in wanting to keep your car parked at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Unfortunately the benefits of parking do not extend once you are no longer a confirmed Guest at a Disney Resorts Collection property. This means you would not be able to leave your car parked at the Resort for the week of your cruise.

What I would suggest is that you consider driving to Port Canaveral and parking at the port instead of spending the money on private transportation. That’s because you will need to find a place to keep your car for the week; might as well be at the port awaiting your return.

As for renting an electric conveyance vehicle (ECV), you could consider a length of stay rental since you’d like to use it during the cruise, too. I’d suggest contacting ScooterBug, a Disney Featured Provider offering stroller, ECV and wheelchair rentals. They will even deliver the ECV to your Resort hotel for you and you don’t have to be there when it’s dropped off. Now that’s service! Contact ScooterBug at scooterbug.com/orlando or calling (800) 726-8284.

If transporting the ECV in your vehicle is an issue, then you could rent an ECV through a private company and arrange to have it delivered to Port Canaveral (since Disney Cruise Line does not offer rental service of ECVs onboard). The company most often recommended for port delivery that I’ve seen is Special Needs at Sea.

To quote Maui, “You’re welcome” to come back to planDisney with your Disney planning questions. Elizabeth, wishing you the most amazing land and sea adventures!

    SEA ya real soon!
