When is the least busy time to stay at fort wilderness camp ground?

    Hi Mandy!

The Fort Wilderness Campground Resort has been my home for the last few years every fall. We love bringing our motor coach down and stay for the holiday activities. Since we have been coming for years we have seen quite a change in the movement in and out of the camp sites. It has become one of the highest sought after reservation at Walt Disney World.

Avoid holidays when you are thinking about heading there for a more quiet visit. Mid October through December will find the sites full and active with everyone coming and putting up their holiday decor. Then others come and stroll the campsites to see it all. After Christmas it starts to fill up with snow birds from the north who want a respite to the cold weather. Many use this as a stopping point while others plant themselves there for a couple of months. Summer is busy because families can come and bring their children since they are out of school.

So as you can see finding a time when the Fort is not busy is difficult. There will be sporadic weeks in the fall in November when it isn't as crowded and also in the spring when it happens to be a week with no spring breaks around the country. Late April and May sometimes are calmer months but definitely not a guarantee. September is also a month where it is a bit more quiet.

EVERY weekend at Fort Wilderness is busy so if you can manage a few days mid week that is your best bet. Whatever time you do choose to come please get your reservation as far in advance as possible. As I mentioned above, getting a site has become more and more difficult even though they have added a new loop. This is especially true for weekends and holidays.
