I just learned that the only birthday cake available at the Plaza Inn is the Mickey ears cake. I was really hoping for a princess cake for my daughter who is turning 5. Is it okay to order a cake from a nearby bakery and bring it in myself?

Greetings, Amber, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so glad you’re hEAR, and I’d love to help you with your question.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate your daughter’s upcoming birthday than at the Happiest Place on Earth! Unfortunately, you won’t be able to bring your own cake into Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park. However, if you change your plans and opt for dining in a Downtown Disney District restaurant instead, then you may be able to, since each restaurant has different rules regarding this. I recommend contacting a few restaurants in Downtown Disney District to see if they can accommodate your request. My family’s favorite restaurant in Downtown Disney District is Naples Ristorante e Bar – in fact, we just ate there earlier this week and had another great experience! There’s usually a balloon artist wandering the restaurant in the evening, too, which my children always look forward to!

My other suggestion is to call the Disneyland Resort to inquire about ordering a custom-designed cake for your group. Custom-designed cakes can be made specifically for your group’s taste and style (Princess perfection!) and are only available at select Disneyland Resort restaurants. Typically, these custom requests require four weeks advance notice, but it wouldn’t hurt to call and ask. For additional questions, please call (714) 781-3463.

Lastly, don’t forget to stop by Guest Relations upon arrival to pick up a complimentary birthday button for your sweet Princess! This way, your daughter will receive birthday wishes from Cast Members and Characters all day long! You can find Guest Relations in City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park, or at Chamber of Commerce on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure Park.

Wishing your daughter her most magical birthday yet!
