Hi Mary,
Welcome to planDisney! You came to the right place because I LOVE runDisney race weekends! I have participated in several in-person and virtual runDisney events and I can’t get enough of those magical miles!
The in-person
Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend takes place at Walt Disney World Resort from February 23 through 26, 2023. Running at Walt Disney World Resort provides an incredible experience. Starting with shopping for race themed merchandise at the Expo, then running through the theme parks with character stops, to crossing the finish line and collecting your finisher’s medal, the entire race weekend is filled with Disney magic.
You can still get that same feeling of accomplishment by completing the runDisney Virtual Races! If you are running the
Virtual- Disney Princess Half Marathon at home, you can complete the race on your own time. Registration for the virtual events also includes a digital bib, printable mile markers, and a virtual playlist so you can recreate the race day experience at home! If you need to break up your miles, that’s okay!
There is no proof of completion required. If you’d like, you can submit your finish time to the finisher’s website and to get a personalized race certificate to print. Your finisher medal and participant shirt will ship after the event timeframe ends to the address you provided at registration.
After you finish your virtual Disney Princess Half Marathon, Mary, I recommend looking ahead at the
upcoming 2023-2024 race season. Registration for the 2024
Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland Resort opens on February 14, 2023. If you’re looking to race at Walt Disney World Resort, there are
several race weekends to choose from, like the 2023 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend that takes place during the
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, and the 2024 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, to name a few. If you choose to stick with the virtual race experience, on April 25, 2023 registration will open for the 2023 runDisney Virtual Series that will take place over the summer, and usually each race weekend offers a virtual option as well. Keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog and
runDisney Blog for future announcements regarding the themes of these weekends!
I also recommend checking out the
training programs offered on the runDisney website. From 5K to the Dopey Challenge, the training plans are there to help you cross the finish line! I like to have a structured plan for tracking my training miles, so I have used the provided training plans to prepare for every runDisney race I have participated in.
I hope you are excited for your runDisney race experience, Mary. If you have any more questions, whether runDisney related or about planning a visit to Walt Disney World Resort, please
visit me again at planDisney!
Wishing you many magical miles, Kaitlin
