Royal greetings, Cheryl!
A warm welcome to planDisney. I'm so honored you've turned to me with your
Walt Disney World Resort race-cation planning question and am always thrilled about the opportunity to help a fellow Michigander! As someone who just returned from the
2024 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, I'm already mapping out my return for 2025. I'd be happy to help you prepare for an enchanting race weekend!
Cheryl, Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend provides the perfect mid-winter escape for us Midwesterners... as well as an excuse to break out our adorable princess-inspired costumes! In 2025, race weekend will take place from February 20-24, 2025 and general registration will open on July 30, 2024. Typically, the 5K is held on the Friday of race weekend, the 10K on Saturday, the half marathon on Sunday, and Disney Princess Yoga on Monday morning. In previous years, the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at the
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex has begun on the Thursday of race weekend, and I recommend making an effort to attend on the first day to maximize your chances of scoring limited-edition merchandise!
Booking for early 2025
Disney Resort hotel room-only reservations and vacation packages just became available, so I encourage you to consider booking your dates as soon as possible to ensure the best availability. (I'd check back later in the year for any
special offers released that might apply to your travel dates!) If, in July, you were unable to secure a bib in the Disney Princess Half Marathon, you'd still have plenty of time to cancel your booking without penalty. However, I'm sending you a sprinkling of pixie dust with the hopes you're able to register for the race!
Cheryl, my family chose to stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort for race weekend this year, and it was the perfect decision for us. My sister and I were able to utilize the
Walt Disney World Monorail System to get to and from EPCOT for the half marathon, and my family was able to easily spectate the race on Main Street, U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom Park! I've stayed at a handful of other Disney Resort hotels during runDisney events in the past, and have utilized complimentary runDisney bus transportation many times. However, having access to the Resort Monorail made for a truly seamless race morning, so I encourage you to consider staying at a resort in the Magic Kingdom Park area, if possible!
I hope you've found these details helpful, Cheryl. If you have any additional planning questions - especially surrounding runDisney race registration, logistics, or what to expect, please feel free to
reach back out to me directly anytime! I'm here to help set you up for success for the most magical race-cation possible.
Warm wishes,
Lauren
