Last year we went we struggled to make reservations at our hotel for any restaurants. Is it a better idea this year to book our dates up now or go to the restaurant on the off chance once we are there? I assume Disney have to leave some tables free.

Hello Kim!  I would highly recommend setting your dining reservations well in advance.  I have seen too many families being turned away because no reservations were set.  I once saw a woman break down in tears because she was on the Disney Dining Plan and had yet been able to just "walk in".  This really broke my heart.  Do not let this happen to you.  Even if you decide not to participate in the DDP, I would still highly recommend securing your dining spots.  Do not allow any part of your WDW vacation to be tarnished due to dining.  I always enjoy calling the Walt Disney World Dining line in order to set my reservations.  I really enjoy speaking to Cast Members who are very knowledgeable and offer some great advice and tips. You can reach them at (407)WDW-DINE.
Please come back and visit us again should any new questions come up.  Have a magical dining experience!
