Hello and welcome to
planDisney, Robin. Thanks for stopping by with your question.
I am so glad that last year you and your husband were able to enjoy
Avatar Flight of Passage. It is one of my family's favorite attractions and a must-do while visiting Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Because there are no stairs, the entire queue for Avatar Flight of Passage is accessible for both wheelchairs and ECVs. However, I can certainly see what you mean about the difficulty of having to push a wheelchair as the queue gradually ascends outside. I did some research for you and there really isn't a different path or elevator to use to gain access to the attraction. If I were you, Robin, I'd go ahead and speak to a Cast Member at the entrance of the queue when you arrive. Fill them in on your situation and see if they have any other suggestions for you. Maybe they'll be able to help you push your husband up the queue or even grant you some sort of access to the Lightening Lane, which is a shorter queue to walk through.
Something I love about a
Walt Disney World vacation is that they really do make it accessible for everyone. I know that you've visited Walt Disney World before but if you haven't checked out the Services for
Guests with Mobility Disabilities page of the website, I highly encourage you to take a look. There's a list of attractions broken down by categories that might be helpful in planning your day - Must transfer from wheelchair/ECV to ride vehicle, Must transfer from ECV to a wheelchair, and Must transfer from ECV to a wheelchair, and from wheelchair to ride vehicle. You'll also find information about parking, transportation and many other things.
I hope this helps, Robin. If you have any other questions, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm here to help!
Delightfully,
Jackie H.
