Hello, last year (Oct 2024) I went on a Halloween sailing. I was able to place magnets with C battery operated fairy lights behind them on my door. I am seeing conflicting information now online that is saying it’s not allowed anymore. Can you confirm?

Welcome to planDisney, Tanya! It’s a pleasure to answer your first planDisney question. It looks like we both love sailing with Disney Cruise Line!  Two cruises within a couple of months sounds like the perfect way to get the most out of the Disney magic!

One of my favorite ways to add a playful touch to my Disney Cruise is by personalizing our stateroom door with magnets. The creativity displayed as I walk the hallways always impresses me. It’s fun to see where everyone is from or what they are celebrating.

I did see on the Prohibited Items list that “seasonal and/or strands of celebratory lightbulbs” are prohibited. However, I spoke with a cast member who confirmed that small battery-operated lights are allowed; just be careful what you hang them with. Strong magnets can sometimes scratch the door. You should also avoid using tape or adhesives, but you are welcome to personalize your stateroom door in any way that makes you smile.

Speaking of smiles, both “Moana 2” and “Mufasa: The Lion King” will be playing during your cruise! I hope you get the chance to catch both movies while you’re at sea! Don’t forget to stop by the beverage station for a soda before heading to the theatre. I hope you have an amazing cruise filled with magic and memories!

Ahoy! Just like Moana, I feel the irresistible call of the sea. I think the best vacation is aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship – thankfully, my family agrees. Whether savoring gelato in Italy, snorkeling in Mexico, or basking in the sea breeze on deck, each destination fills us with memories to last a lifetime. I look forward to helping your family plan a Disney Cruise Line adventure brimming with cherished moments!
