Hi Tara,
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, and thank you for your question. I love hearing that you are returning to Walt Disney World soon – those are magic words!
The best way to request a
Disney Dining Plan substitution is to make that request in person at the dining location. I had a great conversation with a Cast Member at a Walt Disney World restaurant earlier this year, and he explained that, while servers and managers want to create a magical dining experience for Guests, substitutions are not always possible for a variety of reasons. On our recent vacation, my husband was able to swap his dessert for a side salad at one location, but another restaurant was not able to accommodate the same request (two desserts for me!).
Because substitutions are at the discretion of the Cast Member at the dining location, they cannot currently be made when using Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering in the My Disney Experience app.
There are still plenty of places where Mobile Ordering will work out great for you! You can find a
full list of the Quick-Service locations that are currently participating in Mobile Ordering on the Walt Disney World website. I loved pre-ordering my Dole Whip at Aloha Isle, and then jumping into that pick-up line to get my hands on that delectable Dole Whip!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
