last at Wdw 9 years ago,had magic bands that trip, what are the chances of them working this time, how do I check if the are still active’also I will be using my Apple Watch this time so would I be able to link my old one to another family member. Thanks

Hey Howdy Hey, Lynne, and welcome to planDisney!

How exciting that you're returning for a great big beautiful tomorrow in The Most Magical Place on Earth after almost a decade away! I can assure you that pixie dust still swirls through the air making everything a bit brighter while you are there.

Although battery life for MagicBands is estimated at two years, I'm happy to report that I used a MagicBand from 2016 just last month without issue. Although this isn't guaranteed, it's definitely worth a try once you arrive! As long as the band has a charge, anyone who has a MagicBand from a previous trip in their possession shouldn't have a problem using it again. Of course, everyone will likely want to verify that it is still connected to their account before your departure, and I'm happy to share that the process to do so is as easy as...
Bibbidi: Log in to your My Disney Experience account.
Hover your cursor over the 'My Disney Experience' heading at the top right portion of
the page and select 'My MagicBands and Cards' from the dropdown menu that

Scroll down until you see 'Manage MagicBands or Cards' and select the triangle beside
your name to view all MagicBands linked to your account.

As long as your MagicBand is listed there as 'Active', then you're all set! Unfortunately, once a MagicBand has been linked, it isn't possible to switch the account with which it is associated. Other members of your party are welcome to purchase a MagicBand of their own upon arrival or they can utilize Disney MagicMobile service through their iPhone or Apple Watch during your vacation. While I prefer the fun designs and Disney flair of MagicBands, my husband loves the convenience of using his Apple Watch to access all of the magic Walt Disney World Resort has to offer.

Speaking of Disney magic, since your last visit Walt Disney World Resort has replaced their 'Fastpass' system for bypassing standby queues with Disney Genie+ service. If you're in need of a crash course, you might find this helpful.

If you have any additional questions as you plan your return to the magic, don't hesitate to stop back by! I'm always happy to help!

    Thinking Happy Thoughts,
