Our last visit to Disney was 2022. At that time we purchased Magicband+. We have not charged them since 2002. We are arriving 12/15/24 will they still work? I charged them and I think they are ready to go. Just don't want problems when we get there.

    Hi Kristie!

Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney. It’s so exciting to hear that you’re heading back to Walt Disney World Resort next week—what a magical time to visit!

It’s awesome that you’ve held onto your MagicBand+ from your trip in 2022. Once it’s charged, it should work just fine as long as it’s in good shape. The battery powers the fun features like the lights and vibrations, but even if the battery runs out, it will still do the basics like letting you into the parks, accessing Lightning Lanes, and linking your Disney PhotoPass pictures.

I totally get the joy of holding onto something that works well—I bought one of the very first MagicBands when they were released, and I still use it! It’s amazing how long these little pieces of magic can last when you take care of them.

Before your trip, I recommend connecting your MagicBand+ to the My Disney Experience app to update it to the latest software. This will make sure all those extra features work smoothly during your visit. And don’t forget to fully charge it before your park day! If you have the charging cable handy, bring it along just in case you need a quick recharge.

If anything comes up, the wonderful Cast Members at Guest Relations or merchandise locations will be happy to help. I hope your trip is filled with unforgettable moments, and if you have more questions, don’t hesitate to reach out again. Have a magical vacation!

    Best,
