Hi, Nathan! Welcome back to planDisney!
As the mom of a child with special needs, I have a lot of experience using
Disability Access Service (DAS) during visits to the
Walt Disney World theme parks, so it would be my pleasure to help you with this question. Guests who are registered for the DAS program are certainly welcome to also purchase the
Disney Genie+ service. While you may use both services during your theme park visit, DAS and Disney Genie+ operate separately and one service does not affect the other.
DAS is intended for Guests who, due to a disability, are not able to wait in a traditional queue environment. Using their
My Disney Experience mobile app, Guests who are registered for DAS can choose any
attraction in the park that is currently open and operating. The Guest will be given a ride return time for that attraction based on the attraction's current standby wait time. Whether or not you purchase Disney Genie+ service will not affect the list of attractions from which you may book a DAS return time.
When you purchase Disney Genie+, you are eligible to make your first
Lightning Lane selection at 7:00 a.m. However, DAS ride return times cannot be booked until you arrive at the theme park during normal operating hours. Perhaps on your last trip, you did not see attraction availability through DAS because it was too early in the morning. Also, if an attraction becomes temporarily unavailable at any point during the day, Guests using DAS will not be able to book a return time for that ride until it reopens. When the attraction reopens, you'll see it return to the list of available attractions for DAS. This also may have been the cause of what you experienced on your last trip. Then again, maybe it was just Stitch causing a glitch in the My Disney Experience system.
Nathan, I hope this information is helpful, and if you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Have a magical day!
Samantha
