On our last trip, I recall seeing "spirit photography" pictures for sale at Madam Leota's near Haunted Mansion. Can you tell me how much the pictures are, and whether they take them at the park or if we have to bring a portrait with us?

    Hi, David!

I hope we are on the same page here, and that you are thinking of the 8x10 photo you can get taken at Memento Mori, located just outside the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom. A cast member snaps your photo, then transforms it to show you as a "happy haunt" when viewed from different angles.  Each of my kids had their photos taken. Now this is not for everyone, some may find it a bit creepy, but I love my kids' pictures and have them framed and on my fireplace mantle every Halloween season.

If you check the Disney Parks Blog, scroll to the bottom of the article where you can see a cast member's transformation. It will give you a good idea of the "before and after-life" view!  If you want to get your image taken, just stop by Memento Mori, you do not have to bring a picture as they will take it. Developing the picture takes about 15 minutes or so, but when we did this, we just came back toward the end of the day so we did not have to carry the photo around (check for closing time if you do this!)

I believe the cost was about $20-$25, and you could only put one person in a picture. It really is a different type of keepsake, and definitely a conversation piece for your home!

Wishing you many happy haunts at the Haunted Mansion!
