Our last trip was in the month of May (not Mem. weekend) and we used touring plans to maximize our visit. We're going Jan. 23 and I'm wondering if it's safe to just go with the flow, or use the touring plans again?

    Hi Carrielyn,

I'm hoping that you'll be able to just "go with the flow", I'm visiting at that time too...so I'm hoping for low crowd levels!  In my experience this is the best time of year for touring.  The cooler weather and low crowd levels make it an ideal time to visit.

I think if you feel comfortable using the plans, you should go for it.  You may find that you don't really need it...but I think it's better to prepare your day with it and not need it, than to not plan things out on it and wish you had.

Be sure to pack for cold weather.  I always bring hats, mittens and warm coats to use in the event cold weather, it allows you to make the most of the parks.  If the temperatures drop, so do the crowds, because many are unprepared for the cold weather.  If you're dressed properly and comfortable, this is the BEST time to visit, you'll walk on to everything.

Have a great trip, maybe I'll see you there!
