Last time I was at Disneyland, I noticed a lot of reserved seating both around the hub and by Small World. How does one get a reserved seat?

    Hi there, Jeff!

Welcome to planDisney! It looks like your next trip to Disneyland Resort is only a few weeks away! How fun! My kids like to create a countdown calendar to help pass the time leading up to our Disneyland vacations. We also make a list of "must-try" seasonal food, like the S’mores Caramel Tart at the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival that began on March 1 and continues through April 22, 2024.

I have been lucky to sit in those reserved seating areas a few times, and watching the "Magic Happens" Parade while relaxing in chairs was incredibly fun! These seats are usually reserved for VIP Guests and Guests participating in specific tours, such as Disneyland Resort VIP Tours. With this Tour, Guests have their own private tour guide who creates a customized plan just for them, which often includes reserved seating at a parade or Nighttime Spectacular. I once participated in the VIP Tour with 9 friends for a milestone birthday celebration, and it was a magical experience!

I have also sat in the area in front of "it's a small world" as part of the Holiday Time at the Disneyland Resort Guided Tour. Guided Tours that typically include parade viewing are not currently planned during your trip dates, unfortunately. I am so sorry! However, if you are interested in the history of Disneyland, then I highly recommend Walt's Main Street Story Tour. This 90-minute tour includes behind-the-scenes stories and a visit to Walt’s apartment above the Disneyland Fire Station. Standing in Walt Disney's private apartment will always be one of my most treasured Disneyland memories.

Plaza Inn does offer a "Magic Happens" Parade Dining Package. This dining package includes meals and a voucher for reserved viewing access to the second “Magic Happens” Parade performance. The viewing area is mainly standing room or ground seating. The "Magic Happens" Parade celebrates magical moments from legendary Disney stories, and it is such an incredible parade!

Jeff, I know this was not quite the news you were looking for, but I hope you still have a wonderful trip to Disneyland Resort. Please reach out to planDisney again if you have other questions!
