Last time we were at Disney World we saw some kids with trading cards. they said they got them at the information desk at the entrance. Do you know anything about these collector cards? my grandson would love to do this. We are going again in December.

    Hi, Linda!

There are actually several different types of FREE collectible trading cards available at Walt Disney World Resort! The first type are the Disney Transportation Cards, which are free souvenir cards that you can collect as you experience the various modes of transportation (monorail, ferry, water taxi, bus) at Walt Disney World Resort. These cards are not for sale and can only be gotten from the Transportation Cast Members - all you have to do is ask! Each card features a photo of the mode of transport as well as some interesting facts and trivia. My family especially enjoys collecting the Monorail cards!

The second type are the highly collectible Spell Cards from the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom interactive game. Each day you enter Magic Kingdom you can collect a set of Spell Cards which includes a Sorcerer Key Card to unlock the Magic Portals "hidden" around the park. The Spell Cards are particularly well designed and feature a veritable who's who of Disney characters. My family loves playing the Sorcerers game - we just can't get enough! On our multiple trips to Walt Disney World over the past year, we've collected just about every available Spell Card, but we're still missing a few of the "Super Rare" cards. Many Guests who are fans of the Sorcerers game are willing to trade their duplicate cards in order to try to complete their collection.

Here's an extra tip: If you plan to experience Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (which is a separate ticketed event in Magic Kingdom), each Party guest is entitled to receive a very exclusive Christmas Party Spell Card.

I'm sure your grandson will enjoy collecting both types of cards and playing the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game during your family's December visit!
