Hi Carlye W!
Welcome to planDisney! It's great to have you stop by! I'm excited you have chosen
Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge for another stay! This resort has a special place in my heart and one that my family chooses to visit time after time.
I'm sorry to hear you didn't have the best luck finding animals on your last visit. With so much space for them to roam around, there are times when you may not see them as often as you prefer. I will say that I have seen a variety of wildlife late at night and early in the morning. While there are areas around the safari that help feed and treat some of the animals, I don't believe there is a specific time that this occurs. There are typically animals roaming around during all hours of the night and throughout the early morning. If you happen to not see them outside of your balcony, I suggest walking to another portion of the resort in order to view them. There are plenty of glass windows throughout the resort, including a viewing area out back that gives you plenty of vantage points to see them.
The
Starlight Safari at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is a great way to view many of the animals in their natural habitat at night. This guided tour provides night vision devices in order to view over 30 species of animals. Not only will you learn a ton from your captain on board, but you'll be able to explore the safari in a whole new light! I suggest making reservations prior to your visit as spots will fill up quickly.
Carlye W, I hope you have a magical visit to Walt Disney World! As always,
planDisney is here to help you with any questions that come your way.
See ya real soon!
Greg
