Ahoy, Aaron! Welcome aboard planDisney!
It sounds like you may have taken advantage of the onboard offer with a
Placeholder Reservation. This is a deposit you make while sailing with Disney Cruise Line that can be applied toward a future cruise, as long as you book within 24 months of creating that Placeholder.
Like many seasoned sailors, I love having my next adventure charted before I step off the ship! In fact, I recently converted one of my own Placeholder Reservations into a full booking for a January sailing aboard the
Disney Treasure, and now the countdown is officially underway!
Let me help you navigate the waters and find those Placeholder discounts, because you are correct! There are Placeholder-exclusive savings available on select sailings when you convert your Placeholder into a full reservation.
Start by visiting the
Disney Cruise Line website and logging into the account of the primary Guest who originally booked the Placeholder. Hover over the Already Booked tab and select My Reservations. You should see your future cruise Placeholder listed there. From that page, click Search All Cruises and confirm your travel party. Near the top of the page, you'll see a banner labeled Special Rates for Placeholder.
From that page, you can sort and search by departure month, cruise length, departure port, or by ship if you have a favorite vessel in the fleet. Once you've narrowed your course, click View Dates, and all eligible sailings with Placeholder discounts will appear.
You can preview available staterooms directly on the website. When it comes time to convert your Placeholder into a full reservation, I often find it easier to
call Disney Cruise Line and have a Cast Member help complete the booking. Here's a little tip from my own experience: if you select a stateroom and add it to your cart online, that stateroom can become unavailable for a Cast Member to book on your behalf. Instead, I recommend making note of the stateroom you'd like and calling as soon as possible before another sailor sails off with it!
The planning stage is one of my favorite parts of booking a cruise. That's when the excitement starts building, the itinerary comes into focus, and that magical countdown begins! I hope you and your crew find the perfect sailing, make lifelong memories together, and keep the tradition alive by booking another Placeholder before you disembark. I know I'm happiest when I have another Disney Cruise Line adventure on the horizon!
If you have any additional questions, cruise back by and see us anytime. We're always happy to help you stay on course.
Happy Sailing!
Kimberly
