Last August we purchased mugs with the RFID chip. We are returning soon and I'd like to bring those mugs back and reuse them, paying for the use but not ANOTHER mug. Is this possible? I hope Disney would offer this service as an eco-friendly option.

    Hi Karen,

Thank you for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your great question.  I inquired about the same question for another Guest and found the answer to be yes, however there are a couple of stipulations.  First - your mug must be a Rapid Fill Mug with the RFID chip.  Mugs prior to the conversion to the Rapid Fill system with the RFID chips cannot be activated.  It sounds as if your mugs are recent enough to be included.  The second part is that the RFID chip must still be in good working order and the mug should not have been used in the microwave or placed in the dishwasher.  Either of these two activities can damage the RFID chip and prevent re-activation of your mugs.

If you have concerns that your mugs may not be in good enough working condition, purchasing new ones might be the best option for you.  I have also been vacationing at Walt Disney World for many years and with a family of 6 our mug collection is quite extensive.  Therefore after our vacations I like to wash out our most recent mugs and fill them with individual packages of coffee/cocoa to give as gifts for my family, friends, or even my children's teachers.  They really make great gift souvenirs!

Have a Magical vacation and please let us know if we can help you any further with your Disney vacation planning.  We are always happy to help!

    Blessings,
