We have a large family staying at the Grand California in a few weeks. We don’t normally stay in the villas so unsure how the door setup works. Do the villas have virtual room keys and can they be shared with the whole family?

Welcome home and welcome to planDisney, Marisa. Thanks for stopping by to share your question with us. It won't be much longer until you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy. So let's get to your question so you're all set for your visit.

It sounds like you might be staying at The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa as a Disney Vacation Club member. The doors for these units work the same as the regular hotel rooms at this resort. There is an option to use the Disneyland app to unlock your room door. Make sure each Guest is listed on the hotel reservation and have each person link the hotel reservation in the app to gain access to this feature. To do this, open the app and tap the "☰" to open the menu, followed by tapping "Hotel Reservations" and then "Link Another Reservation."

Did you know that you can make requests for your room location? It's never guaranteed, but you can always put a request in. I did this for my last birthday trip and got pixie-dusted with a theme park view on a higher floor. It was absolutely magical waking up and seeing the park just outside my window. You can call Disney Vacation Club Member Services or use the chat function to make your request. You never know when that wish will come true.

Be sure to also take advantage of Early Entry during your visit. Make sure your theme park reservations align with the designated park that is offering this benefit for each day of your visit. It's a great way to get a head start and cross many attractions off your list for the day. You'll also get to enjoy the last days of Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. I recommended checking out the Haul-O-Ween decorations in "Radiator Screams" to really get in a spooky mood.

Marisa, I hope this is helpful as you are preparing for your visit. Please come back to visit us with any other questions that you might have. Here's wishing you a ghoulishly good time at the Happiest Place on Earth!
