Hello Ladies, I’m a single mom with a little money... My five-year-old has been saving his Coins for Disney since he was two. This Christmas I desperately want to take him to the magic kingdom on extreme budget

    Hi Lauren,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I love that your son has been saving his money!

When we planned our girls' first trip to the Walt Disney World Resort, they were 5-years old and saved their money for an entire year before we traveled. To take full advantage of Magic Kingdom and other activities, I strongly suggest that you stay in a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel for at least one night. Value resort hotels tend to be more budget-friendly. Then, you need to check your ticket options - it sounds like the 1 park per day ticket would work for your visit.

If you are driving, bring your own food and drinks to save some money. We always bring snacks to help cut down on costs. Be sure to check the park hours for the dates of your visit so you know how long you would have to spend in the park. Also, take a look at The Holidays at Disney Springs activities. I love the free entertainment at this time of year.

As you plan, know that the winter holidays are a busy time of year. Purchase your theme park tickets in advance and link them to your My Disney Experience Account. When linked, you can start making Fast Pass+ selections once you are within your selection window (60 days prior to arrival for Walt Disney World Resort Hotel guests and 30 days prior to arrival for those staying off property).

Lauren, I do hope you get there - Mickey and Minnie Mouse cannot wait to meet your son!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
