Hi ladies. I want to plan a trip to Disney for myself and my 8 year old son. I know the words inexpensive and Disney do not go together but can anyone suggest the best way to go about booking a trip for 5 days that would be somewhat affordable?

    HI Michele,

Thanks so much for stopping by the Moms Panel to ask your question. As a fellow frugal mama, I love that you're looking for ways to enjoy the Magic of Walt Disney World while staying on a budget. Here are some of my favorite tips:
    • Book vacations during the off season. This may be a given, but so many Guests get stuck in vacationing during the summer months due to work and school. If you get away from both for at least 3 or 4 days, you can save money on your vacation. Plan your vacation during as many weekdays as you can (maybe Tuesday to Saturday) and you'll save even more.
    • Eat A la carte. I'm a big fan of the Disney Dining Plan, but only if you are determined to eat at as many Walt Disney World Resort Restaurants as you can. The Quick Service Restaurants provide great variety in meal choices, and they cost less than table service. Also, some snacks can be meals, like giant, juicy turkey legs.
    • Stay at a Value Resort Hotel. The Walt Disney World Value Resorts are full of pixie dust and royal treatment, but at a pauper's price. By staying at an official Resort Hotel, you are near the theme parks and can utilize the complimentary Disney transportation.
    • Have snacks delivered. You can save even more on your vacation by buying snacks to eat before you even leave home. You can pack these in your luggage, or you can use a grocery delivery site. Our family loves to use Garden Grocer to buy snacks and breakfast items.

There are so many more tips I could share, but I'm all out of space! I hope these help you with your vacation planning, Michele. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask at any time.

    Have a fantastical Disney day!
