Hi Tracy! Welcome to the Moms Panel. We just spent this past Christmas at Walt Disney World, and it is truly one of the most special times to visit! The parks and resorts are decorated so beautifully, and there is a wonderful festive feeling in the air.
As you might guess, the Magic Kingdom is the most popular place for guests to visit on Christmas Day. You need to be aware that if the park reaches capacity, which it often does around mid-morning on that day, they may close the entrance gates to incoming guests-even those staying onsite. I strongly suggest if you go, that you plan to arrive at park opening and stay for the day without exiting - be aware that if you exit, you may not be allowed to return until the park begins to clear. We were at Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day and found the crowds to be heavy, but bearable. I would strongly suggest that if you want to plan a special Christmas dinner at one of the table service restaurants, that you make advance dining reservations. You can call
407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463) or make online
Disney Dining Reservations, up to 180 days in advance of your arrival. We enjoyed a traditional, family-style turkey dinner at
Liberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom, and it was delicious!
As long as your expectations are for a busy atmosphere, and you do a little advance planning, I think you can have a great Christmas Day in the Magic Kingdom. You still have some time, so if you think of any other questions, please come back to the Moms Panel and ask me! Have fun planning and anticipating your Walt Disney World vacation!
