As we all know, 2 year olds are unpredictable (sleep schedules, time changes, fussiness, etc)... I was wondering how much flexibility the parks are willing to give regarding dining reservation deposits due to these kinds of issues?

Hello Annie and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Indeed two year olds are unpredictable, and after my recent trip with my grandson I found out that four year olds are nearly as unpredictable! We had a dinner reservation at Kona Café which is located in Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Our beloved grandson had laid down for a nap, exhausted from a heavy day of Disney magic. When it was time to leave for our reservation, we couldn't wake him. I called the reservation line and was told I had a choice. We could either pay the cancellation fee or we could move our reservation to a later date. Well, we LOVE the Kona Café, so we gladly moved our reservation. In that case, we did not have to pay the cancellation fee. However, I did not feel that there was any flexibility around canceling. If we had canceled our reservation we would have incurred the cancellation fee. Also, I can't guarantee that all dining venues will allow you to simply change your reservation in order to avoid the fee.

So, my advice is, know that it is very likely that if you have to cancel a reservation or if you do not show up for a reservation you will incur a charge. I know this isn't very comforting when you are traveling with a small child, but I don't want you to be surprised if it happens.

If you have more planning questions, don't hesitate to ask! We love to help.

    See ya real soon!
