Hi Stephanie. Thanks for swimming by planDisney with your question.
There is a lot to cover when it comes to the
Walt Disney World water parks, so let’s dive right in. Over the past several years, the operating schedule has shifted a few times. For a long stretch, the two parks followed an alternating pattern. Blizzard Beach typically opened during the fall and winter months, then closed in early spring for its annual refresh, while Typhoon Lagoon took over for the spring and summer. This past year, both parks surprised Guests by operating at the same time, and Resort Guests even enjoyed complimentary water park admission on their check-in day.
As of this fall,
Blizzard Beach has paused operations while
Typhoon Lagoon remains open. Because of that, and based on the historical rotation, I would expect Blizzard Beach to come back online sometime in the spring (typically April if the past is any indication of the future), leading into the summer season. That said, nothing has been announced by Disney yet, so this is simply my best guess from watching the pattern over the years. Your best bet is to check back with planDisney as your trip approaches or keep an eye on
Disney Parks Blog for any official updates.
No matter which water park is open during your visit, you will have plenty to look forward to. Typhoon Lagoon brings the huge Surf Pool and Miss Adventure Falls, while Blizzard Beach has icons like Summit Plummet and Toboggan Racers. Both offer great spots to relax, cool off, and enjoy the Florida sun.
If you want specific tips for either park as your plans get closer, feel free to paddle back my way.
I am happy to share thoughts on snacks, beverages, or even where to find that perfect lounge chair.
