    I know the 4 tipped positions that our (pre-paid) gratuities go to. My question is, if we encounter other fantastic crew members during our cruise, are they allowed to accept cash tips? For example, the crew members who lead activities such as trivia, etc.

    Thanks for bringing your thoughtful question to planDisney. I love that you’re already thinking ahead to the wonderful service you’ll receive onboard Disney Cruise Line and want to plan how to thank those special Cast and Crew Members! On one of my cruises this year, I learned how this works and am happy to share with you.

    You’re correct in that there is a process in place for gratuities for your stateroom host and dining team, the primary Crew Members that take care of you with personalized service throughout your voyage. Please see this answer I provided another Guest which itemizes a few other roles where you can add gratuity to a bill onboard.

    You may not present cash gratuities to other Cast and Crew Members in person directly as they cannot accept them. However, you may visit the Guest Services Desk at any time during your cruise and request that a special team member be recognized for exceptional service. Please be sure to take note of their name and where they are from, indicated on their Disney Cruise Line nametag. You may then either leave a special note of praise or offer additional gratuity that will be sent to them. That gratuity may be paid to the Guest Services Desk with cash, a credit card, a Disney gift card, or as a direct charge to your stateroom account. You can be sure that by taking the time to recognize the magical individual enhancing your cruise experience, they will receive your gift and thanks as appropriate.

    The Cast and Crew are the real magic behind so many of our special Disney Cruise Line memories! They work hard and have a beautiful heart for service that is so tangible when onboard. I love engaging with them and hearing their stories of their time onboard and in their home countries, and it sounds like you do, too Traci!
