Welcome to planDisney Steven!
Ah, a day at
Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line's private island. This is truly an island paradise with sandy beaches, palm trees swaying in the breeze, and a delicious lunch waiting for you at Cookie's BBQ.
During your visit to Castaway Cay, spend the day relaxing on a beach chair, or for the adventurous crew, plan for some island fun! One option is to book the port adventure you mentioned, the
Castaway Cay Getaway Package. This includes snorkel equipment for the day, 1 hour bike rental, and a float or inner-tube to enjoy during your beach day.
When snorkeling you will be required to wear the snorkel vest. The water starts shallow, then reaches deeper water. If you are not comfortable in the water, I would stay where you will be able to stand. While not as much to see, at least you will feel safe knowing you can stand easily. If you prefer, skip the snorkeling and simply rent a bike to zip around the island. The tubes and floats are also available for rental without the Getaway Package.
I am not a swimmer and happy to stay in shallow water. During my last Castaway Cay visit, while in my inner-tube I saw many fish and even a stingray swim past. All from the comfort of my cozy tube! Of course, there are no guarantees of what marine life you will see but keep your eyes open for who is swimming with you!
Your kids are perfect ages for the
Oceaneer Club on the Disney Dream. Check your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app when onboard for club hours but generally the Youth Clubs are open from 9am-midnight. They will have a blast with other kids their ages and the Youth Counselors have so many fun activities planned for these young sailors!
Wishing you and your crew a magical sailing on the Disney Dream!
