I know it is suggested that expecting moms do not ride the animal safari at Animal Kingdom, but I was wondering is it really THAT bumpy? My OB/GYN just went and she seems to think I would be okay and that it was not that bumpy.

Hi Amanda, Congratulations on the newest addition to your family!

Kilimanjaro Safari is my absolute favorite ride at the Animal Kingdom. I have MANY favorites, so this is saying a lot ;)

The ride is in open-air safari type vehicle as you can see in this photo : Safari . It can be a bumpy at times, as you are riding on a dirt road. To me, that is half the fun as it makes it very authentic. There are even a few spots that intentionally jostle you around a little (I won't spoil it for you). I would liken it to riding in a pick-up truck on an unpaved road...you bounce around a bit. Only you can decide if it is an attraction that you are comfortable riding while pregnant. That being said, if your doctor seemed to think it was OK to ride...I would definitely take that into consideration. I have seen pregnant women on the Safari and I would have ridden it while pregnant myself. In fact, my sister-in-law rode it while expecting twins!

If you do decide to try it, know that no two Safari rides are ever the same, and you will likely see different animals if you go in the morning versus the afternoon. It is hard to describe the look of wonder in a child's eyes when she first sees a REAL giraffe crazing in the fields, or the excitement when she spots a big elephant "like Dumbo". If I were you, I'd ride it twice...starting and ending the day on this captivating ride.

    Have a Magical vacation!
