Well hello, David. You are asking about one of my favorite experiences at the
Walt Disney World Resort so I jumped at the chance to answer!
Trader Sam's Grog Grotto at
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is one of the best
lounges at the resort. It's small, intimate, and incredibly themed. And ordering certain beverages will trigger something mysterious and exciting to happen for the whole lounge to enjoy! And the drinks are fun to look at
and delicious. I would tell you my favorite but I order something different each time I go and have enjoyed each one! Plus, you shouldn't sleep on the eats here. Since they are appetizers, I love to order a few to go with my beverages.
At this lounge, there is typically a line of people waiting to put their names in a virtual queue well before it opens. Usually, a Cast Member comes out before the restaurant opens to take down the names, party sizes, and phone numbers of the Guests waiting in line. Not everyone in the party needs to be in that line waiting, but when you get the text that your table is ready, everyone must be present within 15 minutes of receiving it or you'll have to be put back onto the waitlist. So you only have to have one person wait in the line. Also, note that you can be put on the list after the restaurant opens when there usually isn't a physical line. While that means you'll likely have a longer wait, you can explore the resort and even order a drink at
Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace while you wait.
While you're at the resort, you'll also want to check out the delicious treats at
Pineapple Lanai. I love a good DOLE WHIP concoction any day. Plus, there's
Capt. Cook's, which is one of the best quick-service locations at the resort. The Pulled Pork Nachos in the afternoon are great and I find the Morning Flatbread to be delightful (House-Made Sausage Gravy, anyone?)! Plus, just the atmosphere of this resort instantly makes me feel like I'm on vacation!
David, enjoy your time at this classic lounge and resort. If you have any other questions,
I'm happy to help!
Uh-Oa,
Matt
