Ciao, Michele! You ask a great question! I'm happy to help you find the information you need.
Every Disney Cruise Line voyage promises an adventure like no other, but the
Mediterranean is one of my favorites! You'll love
exploring Rome with its iconic Trevi Fountain, Vatican Museum, and awe-inspiring Colosseum. Every corner is steeped in history. Don't forget to toss a coin in the fountain for good luck and a promise of a return visit!
As for the Vatican Museum, they don't specify an exact bag size on their website; it seems to be left to the discretion of security. Based on my experience and some online information, a crossbody purse worked well for me. Larger bags, around 15" by 13" or more, might be considered too big. The cloakroom is free of charge, though I understand the hesitation about leaving belongings behind.
Keep in mind that tripods and video cameras are not allowed. Photography, video recording, and speaking aloud are also prohibited in the Sistine Chapel. The chapel is smaller than I thought it would be and dimly lit to preserve the artwork. You are, however, allowed to take pictures in St. Peter's Basilica. The tour moves quickly, but there's a nice break at a gift shop in Vatican Square.
Remember, your shoulders and knees need to be covered. I bought my husband lightweight zip-off pants just for this excursion. If you're craving gelato, save it for your visit to Trevi Fountain; there are plenty of spots nearby.
I hope you have an incredible time soaking in all the sights! Stop by and see us again if you have any more questions.
SEAS the adventure!
