Ciao, Elisa! Welcome to planDisney! Your trip to Walt Disney World is just a couple of months away. How exciting!
It sounds like you are visiting for a single day and that you’ve picked the Magic Kingdom for your day of fun. I would also choose the Magic Kingdom if I had only one day at Walt Disney World. It’s my absolute favorite theme park, and I think it offers the most classic Disney experience.
You’re correct that you can purchase tickets at the Magic Kingdom’s front gate ticket window, as well as ticket windows at EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and the Animal Kingdom if you decide to visit another park. You can also purchase tickets at the
Disney Ticket Center at Disney Springs. Prices are subject to change, but I looked at the
Walt Disney World ticket calendar, and it currently shows a 1-day adult ticket (ages 10+) to the Magic Kingdom is $169, and it is $164 for a children’s ticket (ages 3–9). I would also note that this is the cost before taxes and without any add-ons, such as
Park Hopper or
Memory Maker.
There can be longer lines at the Magic Kingdom front gate, especially before the park opens, but looks are often deceiving. Cast Members are very good at moving guests through the queue quickly, and I’ve found we are usually through the front gate faster than I would have expected. I would recommend purchasing your tickets ahead of time—either online after you’ve arrived in the United States or at Disney Springs—to minimize your time in line.
There is so much to do at the Magic Kingdom, and having a 6-year-old along for the adventure will be so much fun. It’s such a great age! When my kids were that age they especially loved Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Mad Tea Party, and Tomorrowland Speedway. I’m proud to say that all these years later they still haven’t beaten their old dad at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
Elisa, I hope this helps with your trip planning! Please stop back if you have any other Disney vacation questions. You’re as welcome as can be at planDisney!
