Dreaming about the Ports-of-Call and sifting through shore excursion options is a fun part of cruise planning.
First, look at how long the ship will be in port. The Disney Wonder typically allows passengers ashore in Nassau at approximately 9:45 a.m. with an All Aboard of 7:00 p.m.
Next, findthe excursions that interest your family, the length of the excursion and of course, the cost.
My family usually picks one shore excursion at each port to keep our budget in check. This also allows time for some independent shopping, beach time or more time aboard the ship to enjoy the pools.
Most tours offer one departure time. When I visited St. Croix, I took the St. Croix Highlights Tour which for 3.5 hours departing at 10:00 a.m. Some tours give more than one departure time. At St. Thomas, I took the Coral World Ocean Park and Island Drive tour which lasted 3.5 hours and had 2 departures, 8:00 a.m. and 11:40 a.m. I chose the later time so that I could sleep in and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Upon returning to the ship, many guests stayed ashore to shop.
In Nassau, our family went on the Atlantis Aquaventure tour. We had an amazing day but would not have had time to go on another tour.
For now, narrow your shore excursion choices. First time DCL cruisers can book excursions online once the cruise is paid in full and 75 days in advance of the sailing date (90 days for Castaway Cay Members, 105 days for suite guests). You will then be able to see and choose the time(s) of your tour(s).
