Hi Litzy, and welcome to planDisney! I absolutely love
runDisney weekends at Disney World. There’s an extra energy in the air, and everyone is so supportive and fun! Now, let’s chat about the best hotel for the weekend.
Disney resort hotels are the most convenient place to stay during a runDisney weekend because there’s complimentary transportation for race participants to and from the
Expo (where you’ll pick up your bib number and race t-shirt before the race) and the start line on race morning. You'll find the exact hours in the Digital Expo and Event Guide, released about a week before the race weekend, and posted in the lobby of Disney resort hotels.
Your
Disney Princess 10k entry includes participation in the 6.2-mile course around Disney World (and all of the character meets and entertainment throughout the course), a finisher medal, on-course and post-race refreshments, a participant shirt, the Digital Expo and Event Guide (which often includes discounts you can use at select stores and restaurants at
Disney Springs), and a downloadable finisher certificate.
Before I go, I wanted to share two recommendations to help make sure your runDisney weekend goes as smoothly as possible! First, check out the
training plans on the runDisney website. I always use these to prepare for runDisney races, and it’s a great resource, whether you’re new to the sport or an experienced runner.
And, second, if you’re thinking of making a reservation for a post-race meal, be sure to book something as soon as your window opens (
60 days in advance, or 60 days before check-in for your entire stay, if you’re staying at a Disney resort hotel) since it’s a popular weekend. Some of my favorite post-race restaurants include
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin’ at Disney Springs,
Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and the
Grand Floridian Cafe at Grand Floridian Resort.
Finally, on Tuesday, be sure you’re on the runDisney website a little before registration opens. Often, it’ll let you join the queue early and then assign you a number when the process officially begins. It’s a popular race weekend, so spots can go quickly!
Happy training, and remember, every mile is magic! If you have any other questions as you prepare for the race weekend, we’re always here for you at planDisney.
