I know a room only reservation must be canceled 5 days prior to check in. Does anyone know how they count the 5 days? Would the day of check in be considered the 5th or 6th day? ie check in on the 19th, would we have to cancel on the 14th or 15th?

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Jyl!

First things first: I really hope you don’t have to cancel your Walt Disney World Resort reservation. I’m sending pixie dust that everything works out so you can have your magical vacation!

There are so many different types of Walt Disney World Resort Reservations, from vacation packages to room-only reservations, and many different promotions with their own terms and conditions. My advice is to call (407) 939-1936 to speak with a Cast Member in the Disney Reservations Center. They will be able to look up the details of your reservation and tell you exactly what the cancelation policies and timelines are. I would feel terrible if I gave you the wrong information or did bad math – that would not be magical!

If you have a 12-digit confirmation number for your room-only reservation, you should be able to cancel within 5 days of check-in. All you need to do to determine the date is to count back 5 days from your check-in date - so, in the case of a check-in date on the 19th, the 14th would be the last day to cancel without penalty. Again, though, I would hate to see you lose any money, so please check in with the Reservations Center to be absolutely sure.

For your reference, the 2019 Terms and Conditions provide a lot of helpful information, and Cast Members are happy to assist with any questions. Your friends on the Disney Parks Moms Panel are always here to help too, and we love helping Guests plan their unforgettable visits to The Most Magical Place on Earth! I hope everything works out just the way you’re wishing, and if your vacation is able to go ahead as planned, come back and see us so we can help make it practically perfect in every way!

    Have a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day,
