Do you know if the Rivers of Light experience at AK has fireworks? My daughter is terrified of them to the Nth degree. I've secured reservations with the dining at Tusker House, but if there are fireworks, we'll have to pass. Thank you!

    Hi Tod,

One of my daughters was really afraid of the loud noise from fireworks when she was little (and isn't a big fan even as an adult), so I understand your reservations. I'm happy to tell you that there are no fireworks in Rivers of Light. I believe the animals on the Animal Kingdom savanna have the same aversion to loud explosions as your daughter.

There is swelling music and some shooting flames along with the bursts of light as scenes are projected on the walls of water that act as a screen for the images. I have seen the show once and don't recall any startling noises. However, to be sure, you might want to check out one of the videos of the show that have been placed on the internet by guests and travel providers. I've seen a couple that capture the show very well.

While you are at Animal Kingdom at night, Tod, I recommend you also take the opportunity to see the Tree of Life Awakenings. Again, no exploding lights, but the scenes dancing across the Tree of Life are beautiful. There are several variations, and it occurs about every 10 to 15 minutes. The best view is from the open area near Discovery Trading Company.

Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I hope this was useful, but please feel free to check back if you need more information or have other questions. Enjoy!
