Galactic greetings, Amber, and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so excited to hEAR that your getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth will be here in just two months! And, that means your journey to a galaxy far, far away is also quickly approaching. Let the
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge fun begin!
Currently, there isn’t a reservation system in place for building a droid at
Droid Depot. So far, this experience is available on a first-come, first-served basis. When I first visited Batuu with my son a month ago, we waited about 20 minutes in line before building his custom astromech droid unit. I highly recommend this experience – my son can’t stop talking about it, still! First, you decide whether you’d prefer to build a BB-series unit, or an R-series unit. Then, you select the parts for your future droid – they’re all available on a conveyor belt moving through the Depot – which is so cool! Once you have all the necessary parts, you’ll move into one of the build stations to put it all together. Cast Members are available to assist you, if needed, but we found it to be fairly self-explanatory thanks to the helpful “placemat” with instructions. Then, once you’re done, the Cast Member will help you pair your droid with a remote control, and you get to press the magical activation button to watch your new friend come to life!
Unlike the Droid Depot, you can make a reservation to build a lightsaber at
Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers! In fact, according to
recent news from the Disney Parks Blog, you can now make reservations up to 14 days ahead of your arrival date. Soon, you’ll be able to make a reservation for up to 60 days ahead, which is exciting news! The local watering hole,
Oga’s Cantina, works the same way when it comes to reservations. You can make reservations for both Oga’s Cantina and Savi’s Workshop online, or with my favorite handy helper, the
Disneyland app.
I also recommend downloading the
Play Disney Parks app, so you can become fully immersed in the Galaxy’s Edge experience! My son and his friend had a blast on a mission in the
Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run attraction queue!
May the Force be with you on your travels to Galaxy's Edge!
